I agree, and not because I also happen to have a signed Ruutu jersey for Canes. Dude is awesome, and he needs to get out of Carolina. Haha.

If I was Detroit I would not offer that trade. If I was Anaheim I would not accept it. Confusing...Yes

I agree, I think Ruutu is our man. If im not mistaken, he can also play LW and C.

Yeah. Canes move him back and forth a lot, depending on what was clicking. Last year he was with Skinner and they would switch who was Center like every few games.

About what i was thinking too. I don't want the Wings to trade their 2 best NHL ready youngsters while the Ducks likely would want something more proven in the deal like Filppula +. Can't see Holland giving what the Ducks would want for Ryan.

Guys, let me get this straight. You don't want to acquire a power forward who has 3 30 plus goal seasons in his three full seasons in the NHL? He is having a down year, yet he has 17 goals which is still on pace for 30+ and would be 2nd currently on the team aside from Franzen.

The Wings pool of prospects is deep enough in my opinion to offset the blow of losing two of them and a pick to acquire a top-end talent like Ryan. I would try to keep Nyquist though and perhaps sell the Ducks on another prospect.

If Murray is looking for a roster player, I doubt Holland pulls the trigger during the season. But I would not be opposed to parting with Filppula, especially if they keep Nyquist.

My problem with that proposal is the Wings would be giving up their only 2 forward prospects who are NHL ready. Wings have plenty of forward prospects but aside from those 2, none of the others are NHL ready and most are 2-3 years away...at least the ones who project as top 6 anyways. They could afford to deal one of them but i don't think they would deal both.

As far as roster players, well any player coming in...one at the least has to go out or someone will have to get waived at some point when everyone is healthy. So Holland will have to move someone if he wants to add someone unless someone is out until the playoffs. If i were Holland, i would try to keep Filppula and trade someone else instead. Wings should want to add to Z, Datsyuk, Franzen and Filppula...not trade one of them. Hudler, Emmerton, Miller, Eaves are the most likely but who knows maybe Holland could work something out by sending Stuart in that deal and get a defenseman back in the deal.

I don't really think any of the big 3 from the Ducks are going anywhere unless someone vastly overpays for one and i think it's safe to say it won't be Holland. By his comments, i am starting to think the Wings will only do something minor with 3rd and 4th liners coming to the Wings. His comments might just be for bargaining power to bring down the price it might cost him but we also know Holland is pretty tight with prospects and picks since the salary cap came in. The UFA market now is mostly a joke with almost no star players and 2nd tier guys getting star player money so they need to have options from within.

No one likes giving up NHL-ready forward prospects, but you don't get much more "NHL-ready" than "24-year-old scorer with three seasons of proven NHL experience."

Do I like the idea of giving up Nyquist and Tatar? No. But if I have a chance to get a young, proven NHL star on a good contract (just over $5 million per through 2015) for a pair of guys that, let's face it, project as second-liners, you better believe I make that deal.

That said, whether or not this deal was/is actually on the table, I don't think Anaheim goes for it.

Agree with everything you said Sven. Bird in hand is worth two in the bush. I make the deal, but unless Holland has incriminating photos of Murray with barnyard animals, hard to imagine the deal goes through.
